It's that time of year again...The 11th batizado of the Batuque Capoeira Group will be held on the 20th and 21st of October in Den Haag! Workshops by 15 international Capoeira mestres and teachers for beginning, intermediate and advanced students throughout both days. On Sunday the batizado will take place. Doors are open from 10:00 and the workshops start at 11:00. The dinner and grand party on Saturdaynight with Capoeira show and live music will be located on a different spot this year: the wellknown Café Syndicaat. Also prepare yourself for the traditional Open Podium on Sundaynight, where all batuqueiros can show off their other special talents (music, theatre, dance or anything you want to show). In 2008, Batuque Capoeira is organising the 8th tour to Brasil to enjoy the native lifestyle, nature, sun, cultural diversity and of course Capoeira. The tour will take place the first three weeks of January 2008. Those three weeks will be filled with a busy agenda but at the same time relaxed and enjoyable, for anyone in the group, beginners or advanced. We will spend 1 week in Fortaleza, participating in the international capoeira festival with people from Brazil, Holland, Italy and Switserland. Two more weeks will be spent in and around Canoa Quebrada (enjoying the natural beauty, nightlife, trips along the coast, Capoeira classes). In Canoa we will stay in a very comfortable accomodation. You'll be able to see the location on a new website that will be published soon. Beste Batuques uit heel Nederland, woensdag 20 december is in Den Haag de 'laatste' Roda van dit jaar. Het zou natuurlijk te gek zijn als de hele groep nog een keer samen kan komen om flink te trainen en een grote roda te maken. De les zal dan ook (minimaal) 3 uur duren. Aansluitend zullen we dan een surprise houden. Iedereen die komt koopt een klein cadeau van minimaal 5 euro (als je nog zwart geld over hebt wat je kwijt wilt mag je wat meer besteden...500 euro ofzo). Na de roda zullen we de lootjes trekken en vervolgens de cadeaus uitdelen. This summer Batuque Capoeira will give 50 shows in Hollands most famous beach spots. The project is in cooperation with Heineken and will involve interactive shows in famous beach resorts like Zandvoort, Scheveningen and Katwijk, but also covering the beaches on southern Zeeland and all the way up to the northern island of Ameland. On Queensday, Saturday 30 April, the Batuque Capoeira Group will perform on various locations in Nijmegen and Arnhem. Starting in Nijmegen (meetingpoint: the church at Molenstraat) from 13:00 - 17:00 and finishing only at night with a roda at Hotel Bosch in Arnhem(18:00). The Batuque Capoeira Group is organizing the 5th exchange trip to Fortaleza, Brasil. From 15 December to 6 January the group will experience capoeira, nature, beach and Brasilian way of life. Travel, boarding and activities are all taken care of. One of the special events will be the 3rd ‘Capoeira World’s Friends Meeting’. On friday the 30th of April (Koninginnedag) we will celebrate the birthday of several members of the Batuque Capoeira Group, of course the birthday of our (old) queen and the fact that contra-mestre Vladimir has been teaching Capoeira in the Netherlands for exactly nine years on April the 30th. That all together is enough reason for a day full of Capoeira, Maculelê and PARTIES!!! We will gather at the church in the Molenstraat in Nijmegen at about 13:00 to give several performances. I have updated the website again. I have added the section CD's in which we will place information on certain cd's. There's also the possibility to order them (i.e. through Amazon.com). Due to some complaints about the Flash-menu not being accesible, I decided to add an HTML-menu to the bottom of the page. A new section was added as well. Batuqueiro Jaime is selected to participate in televisionprogram "Dubbelklik" by the AVRO. He will leave for Rio de Janeiro on the 13th of February and will return on the 21st of February. Together with another capoeirista from Holland will he be "connected" to 2 capoeiristas from a local Capoeira group. They will be together 24/7. They will eat, drink, sleep and go out together. Of course they will be attending several Capoeira-lessons. Everything will be recorded by a camera-crew and a translator will be present to help them out where nescessary.
